Family of missing Exmoor woman told of discovery.
Avon and Somerset Police say at about 3pm on Tuesday (2nd July), a kayaker found human remains on the shoreline at Samson’s Bay near Ilfracombe.
Although the remains have not yet been formally identified, the force has updated the family of missing 49-year-old Dulverton woman Vanessa Hodge.
Vanessa’s family are being supported by specially-trained officers and have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
They said a forensic post-mortem examination will be held next week.
She was last seen on the 29th May and her car was found at Porlock Weir the following day.
