Video: Lympstone Royal Marines allow youngster to use assault course

Visually impaired teenager Malachy from Coventry, who suffers from arthritis in his eye, has a dream of joining the Royal Marines.

Having heard his story, the Royal Marines in Lympstone wanted to give him a day to remember. So they let him use their assault course.

Coropral Jordan Russel says: "For someone with his condition, it's really good to see that he's got a good attidue towards life. He dosent let stuff get him down. With a bit of luck, despite his condition, he can still achieve his dream of joining the Marines."

Reflecting on the day, Malachy added: "It's amazing that I have ben given this opportunity. For those people who have medical conditions, I would just say do what you like to do, and try your hardest. I might struggle with arthritis, but I still manage to do stuff like this and manage my day."
