A public meeting in Ottery this evening will gauge support for the plan to let wild beavers living on the river Otter stay there.
The meeting's been organised by Natural England as they decide whether to let the Devon Wildlife Trust look after the beavers and monitor their population for five years.
The Trust need to raise 54 thousand pounds to fund the project - and have so far collected 45 thousand.
The meeting takes place at Ottery scout hut starting at 6.30.
