Council reaffirm commitment to helping services
The commandant of the Royal Marines' commando training centre at Lympstone has thanked Devon County Council (DCC) and Torbay Council for reaffirming their commitment to the armed forces covenant.
This is a pledge in which the councils promise to help service people settle into civilian life away and provide easier access to employment, healthcare and housing.
It is estimated around 100,000 Devon residents are service veterans.
The Countess of Arran, Lady Arran, is vice lord-lieutenant of Devon. She's praised the armed services as a “major asset” to the county.
