Two student developments, a six storey hotel and a large housing scheme were discussed by planners at Exeter City Council last night.
The six storey hotel proposed for Southernhay was granted permission by Exeter City Councillors last night and was the least controversial planning application discussed at the meeting.
A decision on whether to give approval for 123 new homes in Ludwell valley was deferred, despite many local people turning up, after the Highways Authority claimed they hadn't prepared a statement.
Controversial plans to build six student townhouses in the St James area comprising of 48 bedrooms and 20 studios was turned down. Opposition was fierce after it was claimed that students already made up more than 50% of the area.
However, another student development at Renslade House in Bonhay Road was approved.
