Council moves to condemn hate crime

There's been an outpouring of concern from Exeter residents about a potential rise in hate crime locally - leading to the city council officially condemning any discriminatory behaviour.

Nationally there has been an increase in incidents targeting foreign nationals after the vote to leave the EU.

The council's Labour group says every councillor has received emails asking the local authority to make a stand.

An official motion's been supported by all parties, embracing all the faiths and cultures represented in Exeter's residents and supporting all work to tackle racism and discrimination.
