The UK and France could be trading electricity in the next few years - via a cable between Normandy and Budleigh Salterton. A public consultation's starting this week..
The plan is to lay a transmission cable under water and under the Channel, via the island of Alderney, enabling power to flow between the two countries.
It would mean the UK could buy electricity from France during supply shortages - or sell it to the French when they were in need.
It'll also enable countries to meet their environmental targets more easily by swapping low-carbon electricity.
Exhibitions on the route and other details take place in Budleigh tomorrow, Cranbook on Wednesday and in Woodbury on Thursday.
