The number of alcohol-related incidents dealt with by police in Exeter was nearly 25 per cent higher last December than the same month in 2011.
There were a hundred and 36 reported incidents - 54 of them classed as anti-social behaviour, and 29 recorded as crimes.
Police say they will have an extra presence in the city centre on the nights when large numbers of people will be out celebrating.
