Research by Exeter University could revolutionise the way epilepsy is diagnosed.
Two scientists have received a grant to fund their pioneering work.
Professor John Terry and Dr Mark Goodfellow hope their research will lead to an 80 per cent reduction of the time suspected epilepsy sufferers spend in clinic, and improve the accuracy of diagnosis.
They plan to develop a computational tool to be used by clinicians, which will also produce personalised treatment plans for patients enabling them to live without seizures and with fewer side effects from medication.
Their proposals have attracted a grant of 150 thousand pounds from Epilepsy Research UK.
