A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson
A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire in Paignton overnight [6 June].
Emergency services, including three fire crews, were called to Kings Road at 3.10am.
The property, which comprises of three flats, was evacuated and two women were rescued and treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics.
In a statement, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue said:
"On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that there was smoke issuing from the property with two persons unaccounted for in the property.
"Crews quickly got to work using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, thermal imaging cameras and safety jets to tackle the fire and search for the casualties."
Investigations will be carried out this morning by the police and fire services to establish the cause.
