The number of alleged rapes reported to police in Devon and Cornwall has risen by over 50% during the past five years.
In the last 12 months, 997 adults and children have reported serious sexual assaults across the two counties.
But only 131 suspects were then referred to the Crown Prosecution Service - and only 41 people were eventually convicted.
