Parachute failed to deploy, says coroner
The inquest of the death of a skydiver at Dunkeswell Aerodrome near Honiton has opened at Devon Coroner's Court in Exeter.
49-year-old Charles McNeil, from Poole, Dorset died after his parachute failed to deploy for "some unkown reason".
Area cornoner Deborah Archer said the precise cause of death had not been discovered at this point.
She said the skydiving instructor and HGV driver was born in Crawley, West Sussex and lived at a property in Poole, Dorset.
The coroner adjourned the inquest until a later date.
Investigations with British Skydiving, police and the local authority continue.
