Reminder to check tide times
Two people who were stranded on rocks in Sidmouth, East Devon were rescued in windy conditions on Sunday afternoon.
Sidmouth Lifeguard and Beer Coastguard worked together to get a rope across to the casualties to deliver blankets. But because of the rough sea conditions, reaching the the couple either by foot or from the water was not possible.
It was assessed that a helicopter extraction would be the safest option given the conditions.
Rescue 924, which had been dispatched from Newquay, then successfully winched both casualties from the rocks to the beach.
Once safely ashore, they were assessed by Beer Coastguard, with no serious injuries reported.
People are being urged to always check tide times before heading to the coast.
