Government provides £5 million
Exeter Science Park has been awarded £5 million from the government’s national ‘Getting Building’ fund. The money is coming via the South West Local Enterprise Partnership which has been given £35.4 million from a national pot.
The fund is investing in ‘shovel ready’ infrastructure projects to drive local growth and create new jobs. Exeter Science Park will now be able to get cracking with a new building, a three-storey net zero carbon office and laboratory space.
Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park, said: “Exeter Science Park helps innovative STEMM companies to deliver extraordinary growth and these are exactly the kind of businesses that will help accelerate economic recovery post COVID-19.
“We are pleased to have been awarded this funding and to continue to work alongside them on this next building which marks the start of the next phase of growth for Exeter Science Park.”
Work on the building is scheduled to begin in this month for completion in December 2021.
