Fire destroys two part-built houses on new development

Two derilict buildings destroyed

A large fire broke out in Plymouth yesterday evening involving two derelict properties.

Emergency services attended the scene on Prince Maurice Road in the Mutley area of the city just after 6.30pm.

Crews from Greenbank, Crownhill, Camels Head, Plymstock, Plympton, Saltash and Callington responded and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus deployed multiple hose jets to contain the blaze as thick smoke poured into the sky.

The fire completely destroyed two of the eight terraced homes in the row.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue worked to prevent flames from spreading further, using four attack jets and an aerial ladder platform.

Emergency services remained on-site to dampen down hotspots and ensure the blaze is fully under control.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
