A farmhouse at Cheldon, just east of the A377 Crediton to Barnstaple road has been severely damaged in a fire.
The blaze broke out around 5 p.m. on Wednesday leading to fire crews from Witheridge, Chulmleigh and South Molton attending. Because of the extent of the fire, further crews from North Tawton and Crediton were called for. The kitchen and the ground floor of the house were well alight.
The house was 90 per cent damaged by fire and 40 per cent by smoke.
A casualty at the scene was treated for smoke inhalation.
