High winds this morning are causing problems across Devon. Hundreds of people have lost their power and numerous roads have been blocked by fallen trees.
Two hundred and fifty homes across the EX6 area are due to be reconnected by Western Power Distribution by now, Twenty in the TQ13 area by 12.00, Twenty in EX 3 should be back by 1.00, 35 in EX5 and EX 8 by half past one, onen hundred and forty in EX14 some around now and some by One O'Clock, almost 60 in EX 15 around now, and twenty three in the EX 36 area by 12.00
Trees have been blown down and drivers are being urged to take extreme care on the roads...a number were blocked by falling trees, but have since been cleared...including Ottery St Mary, Exton, Willand, Exwick in Exeter, Totnes, Exminster and Moretonhampstead.
Devon and Cornwall police say they're taking an exceptional number of phone calls and they're asking people to slow down and be vigilant, when driving.
The Exeter based Met office say wind gusts have been reaching around 60 to 65 mph in some of the more exposed parts of the south west today.
