The 120-bed temporary NHS Nightingale Hospital to treat covid-19 patients in Exeter is to open in June - and construction is now well underway.
The facility, which was originally planned for Westpoint Arena, could be in use for up to a year - or not at all. As the coronavirus crisis progressed, health bosses felt that Westpoint, on the eastern edge of the city, would be too large.
A former Homebase DIY store of about 40,000 square feet is now being converted into a hospital. The hope remains that it may not be needed.
