Its head becomes a national leader of education too
Ellen Tinkhma School in Exeter has been selected by the government to become a national teaching school and national support school. It means it will play an important role in recruiting and training new teachers.
Its head, Jacqui Warne, becomes a national leader in education too. The Department of Education makes the appointments, and schools minister Lord Agnew has congratulated Ellen Tinkham School and Jacqui Warne on being appointed as a teaching school and a national leader of education. He says: "They should be very proud of this achievement. Teaching schools and national leaders of education are supporting other schools, attracting and training the best new teachers and developing the next generation of leaders.”
The school has been rated outstanding by Ofsted for the past 11 years. Mrs Warne says: “I am delighted that our ‘outstanding’ special school has this opportunity to develop and share expertise even further. It’s bound to have a really positive impact on our learners and has been achieved thanks to the skilled and dedicated work of our amazing staff team.”
