The creation of a special currency for Exeter, to support independent traders, looks set to be backed by the city council.
Councillors have attended a preliminary meeting between the group Transition Exeter, and the leader of the successful project to create the Bristol Pound.
A public meeting next week will gauge the views of local residents and businesses.
