Driver helps passengers to safety
A Devon bus driver evacuated passengers when his bus caught fire on the A380 near Kennford on Thursday afternoon.
Police officers, along with three fire engines, helped at the incident on the carriageway around 6pm. Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for potential hospots where the fire could reignite.
No one is reported hurt, but 30 per cent of the bus was damaged by the fire. Devon Highways were informed of an oil spill.
A Stagecoach South West spokesperson said: “Our driver safely escorted the two passengers on board the service away from the vehicle. There were no injuries, however safety is always our absolute priority and we are investigating the cause of the incident.”
The fire was caused accidentally.
