Small fire, but concerning
Police are appealing for information about an incident that took place outside Linda’s Lunches, Tower Street, Exmouth on Saturday night (9 January).
A recycling bin outside the property and was deliberately set alight causing extensive damage to the shop front window.
Police are not connecting the incident to a series of fires in Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton last summer, in which bins were also set on fire. Exmouth Pavilion, Bumble and Bee cafe, and a shop in Exmouth town centre were badly damaged, as was a residential property in Budleigh Salterton. Two people were arrested on suspicion of those offences subsequently. One was released without further action, and the other was given a conditional caution.
Anyone with any information which could help police enquiries on the Tower Street incident should contact police on 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/002056/21
