Woman and two children evacuated
Three fire appliances from Bideford, Torrington and Barnstaple were mobilised at 9.40 a.m. on Friday following a call from a local resident who could see black smoke issuing from a first floor rear bedroom window of a semi-detached house at Tennacott Heights, Bideford.
It was reported that the occupants, a mother and her two children, were believed to still be inside, which crews were made aware of whilst on their way.
Shortly after initial crews arrived on scene and entered the property the occupants were located and lead to safety, two of whom were suffering minor injuries.
The fire, which was started deliberately in one of the bedrooms, was soon under control and confirmed just after 10 a.m.
The casualties were left in the hands of ambulance personnel and the incident left in the hands of the police.
