The work of the Exeter-based victim support team has been praised today by Baroness Newlove - who's long been championing the rights of people traumatised by crime.
Helen Newlove's husband Garry was murdered by drunken youths in 2007 - her work led to her peerage and her appointment as Victims' Commissioner.
Since April the Victim Care Unit have been liaising with dozens of support groups and charities so that they can tailor the help available to the victim's needs.
The Baroness visited the unit earlier and said the team are doing fantastic work, pointing victims in the right direction and also following up to make sure they have made contact with the support organisations.
