Checks on the safety of school buses run by the Exeter firm Carmel continue today - with spot checks beginning on the school routes.
Devon county council has been criticised for continuing to use the company, whose operating licence has been revoked with effect from July 31st because of safety defects.
The council is liaising with the Transport Commissioner who revoked the licence to find out why an immediate ban wasn't issued.
It says it's actively pursuing other companies to provide school transport, but this is the busiest time of year and the services can't be replaced immediately.
