Managers of the new body responsible for NHS services in Devon are reassuring the public, over fears of more involvement by private health providers.
The changeover to Clinical Commissioning Groups came into force at the beginning of this month.
It means GPs and clinicians are responsible for buying the services their patients need from local hospitals, community teams and other providers.
There's been criticism of the increased role of private health companies.
But Rebecca Harriott - the chief officer at the CCG - says these providers have always been part of the NHS, running pharmacies and GP practices, and they are monitored to ensure that they meet patients' needs.
