Police across the south west's five regional forces are to work together to fight terrorism, extremism, and other threats to public safety.
This afternoon the five Police and Crime Commissioners have signed an agreement for Special Branch collaboration.
The new arrangement will put all the Special Branches under the command and control of Avon and Somerset police, building on an existing collaboration they have with the Wiltshire force.
Devon and Cornwall's police and crime commissioner Tony Hogg has welcomed the agreement, saying it will enable them to share resources and expertise, and work together more effectively..
