The tooth of a mammoth has been found in a river in East Devon. It's thought to be 20 thousand years old and is 20 centimetres long, and weighs more than two kilogrammes.
The tooth was spotted on the bed of the River Otter near Newton Poppleford by an officer from the Environment Agency as he was checking the erosion caused by flooding.
It's thought that the erosion exposed previously buried areas of gravelbed and washed the tooth into the river.
The owner of the land has agreed to donate the tooth to the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter.
