Pony eventually emerges unharmed in Devon emergency
A specialist animal rescue team from Exmouth has helped save a pony in distress.
The equine emergency on Thursday took place at a swimming pool in Buckland Monachorum on the edge of Dartmoor in West Devon. It's not known where the horse (presumably without rider) took its dip, or why.
Details are scant, but Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue say a vet was on hand to check out the horse, once it had been brought out of the swimming pool and that it's in good health.
They say it's an unusual rescue. But horses are sometimes known to enjoy swimming. Some pool providers supply hydrotherapy pools just for horses.
