While attention has been focussed on the latest Occupy Exeter protest in the High Street, it's claimed that the city centre has never been so vibrant.
With the new John Lewis store taking shape, plans moving forward this week for the redevelopment of the bus station, and Hollister and Cath Kidston opening new stores in Princesshay, the look of the main shopping areas is changing rapidly.
Exeter's City Centre Manager, John Harvey, said, "this is a City centre that's moving in the right direction. Brands like Cath Kidston back winning cities - Exeter is a winning city".
