Threadbare beach to be replenished and 2,900 homes safer from flooding
Precautions to stop Dawlish Warren splitting in two are about to get underway, as part of a 14 million pound project that will also make the beach there more attractive.
The Warren's been losing sand over the years. From January, the Environment Agency's going to be dredging sand from the sea bed and bringing it back .
Without the work, the Warren could divide into two pieces by 2030 - and that will put the west side of the Exe at greater flood risk.
Giant sausage-like heaps of sand will be put into the 'neck' of the Warren.
The work will take about nine months.
