The number of so-called 'chuggers' in Exeter city centre..... approaching people for direct-debit charity donations.... could be restricted under a new code of practice.
That's one of the ideas being considered by the city council as they look at dozens of ways to make Exeter a better place to live, work, shop and socialise.
City centre manager John Harvey says he doesn't want to stop people collecting for good causes, but would like to reach an agreement with the charities, so that their representatives didn't all converge on the High Street at the same time
