Traffic in and around Exeter was gridlocked earlier today (25th February) after a multi-vehicle crash on the M5 northbound between J31 and J29.
All emergency services were on the scene.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a woman had been taken to hospital with a head injury, but it's not thought to be serious.
South Western Ambulance Service confirmed it treated 8 people, with 4 taken to hospital.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service said it had:
"...received a call from Highways England reporting a Road Traffic Collison involving multiple vehicles at the above location.
Three fire appliances and a heavy rescue vehicle from Danes Castle, Middlemoor and Topsham were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.
On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed a four vehicle road traffic collision, with one female still trapped in one of the vehicles. Crews quickly got to work to stabilise the vehicle and used hydraulic cutting equipment to release to casualty, who was handed over to paramedics.
Police were also on scene to assist."
